Founded Vas MedTech to take specialist gynaecological care out of theatres and into everyday clinics, leading FlexiGyn from first sketch to patented, clinically validated platform.
South African COVID-19 Ventilator Response Team
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Edmund contributed to South Africa’s national ventilator response effort, supporting rapid design, validation and deployment under extreme system pressure. The experience reinforced a core belief that continues to shape his work: healthcare technology must be dependable when conditions are least forgiving.
University of Cape Town | Lecturer
Edmund lectured in medical device design, teaching the full lifecycle from problem identification through to device development and commercialisation. His teaching emphasised practical constraints, regulatory awareness and ethical responsibility, preparing engineers to design for real health systems rather than theoretical ones.
University of Cape Town | Biomedical Engineer
Working within the academic and clinical research environment, Edmund contributed to biomedical device development, CAD design and applied engineering research. His role bridged academic rigour and applied problem-solving, supporting projects intended to move beyond the lab and into clinical use.
